Our Guests Love Us. . . But don’t take our word for it!
TripAdvisor is the leading online travel review website. You won’t find many hotels that provide a direct link to their reviews (for obvious reasons). We do, however, because we know how hard we work to provide the best stay possible for our guests. Our reviewers know it, and so will you after only one stay.
Management at Check in (Shaun) couldn't have been kinder. He was working w/o a helper (migraine) and running the front desk, bar and limited menu (mostly appetizers) but he took time with each guest. We had reserved a pet friendly room and Shaun gave our dog treats when we arrived, greeted her and us very warmly and this stood out because he was working alone- he was very busy on a Friday night. Breakfast was beyond my expectations: good (strong & organic) coffee, quality whole grain bread, cheesy hashbrowns and eggs. A person had plenty of healthy selections (Greek yogurt, steel oats or cantaloupe and red grapes) or make your own Belgian waffles. Since they only charge an extra $15 per night for the pet ( and there was a clean dog walking area with a bag dispenser) I think this hotel is a great value. Nancy, Google
Hotel on Lake Superior. Balcony room with great lake view. Friendly helpful staff. Hot tub was great after a day of hiking. Breakfast was scrumptious with plenty of options. Location was close to downtown. Enjoyable stay in a beautiful area. Sonia, Google
We were very impressed. The staff was amazing as well--very friendly, personable and accommodating. We had 2 dogs with us and were treated at check-in as if we brought a king. We were given dog treats (but asked first, which is appreciated), and were told up front the dog-friendly areas outside, so we didn't have to go in search ourselves. It was very welcoming. The hot tub area was beautiful, and the fitness center was amazing--very well-stocked with equipment (not just treadmills), well-lit, REALLY clean--and we're still talking about our experience here. We'll definitely be back! Terrie J., Google
We were traveling and decided to stop at the Superior Inn. At once we were greeted by Shaun, who was running the shift. He was like a breath of fresh air. So friendly, kind, polite, professional... He got uus checked in and our room was perfect. He checked with us the next time We were in the lobby to see if there was anything else that he could do it get for us... Excellent Customer Service. We had a fantastic view of Lake Superior, beautifully tiled walk in shower, granite countertops... Comfortable pillows, beds, chairs... A great night's sleep and a delicious breakfast in the morning. A must stay in Grand Marais. Holly, TripAdvisor
All rooms have a great view of Lake Superior. Rooms and the hotel recently remodeled rooms and hotel inside and outside, so everything was really nice. Breakfast was excellent. Close to area restaurants, shops and the harbor. Janice, TripAdvisor
I love the renovations in the lobby and the new whirlpool tub on the first floor. we had a steam shower Jacuzzi suite on the third floor, overlooking Lake Superior. The room was clean and stunning. it is definitely a wonderful place for a romantic evening. The view was incredible. Front desk reception was pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious, one of the best we’ve ever had. We had a hash brown bake, and egg bake, Kielbasa sausage and there was so much more to choose from. this is one of the best hotels we’ve been to. Worth the money for the experience. TripAdvisor Guest
Hotel rooms that overlook the Big Lake are a coveted thing. All of the rooms I have stayed in at this property take special care to feature gorgeous views of the lake! The rooms themselves are well worth the price to feel like you have indulged a bit! The hotel lobby and breakfast room have been renovated recently. Kristen W., TripAdvisor
Hands down the best hotel experience last evening at the Best Western in Grand Marais, MN. The inkeeper/bartender/front desk clerk — All in one due to a staffing shortage was THE BEST! What a positive attitude and overwhelming welcoming spirit. Rooms are comefortable and roomy with excellent views of the sunrise on Lake Superior — I’d return in a heartbeat. Jane W., TripAdvisor
Our room was facing Lake Superior and we enjoyed seeing the water and the coastline view, and hearing the crashing waves. The room was very nicely appointed, the linens were very nice, and the breakfast had items not usually seen on Best Western buffets. We would stay again - gladly! Peggy H., TripAdvisor
We are somewhat biased as we have enjoyed the Lodge on the Lake in Detroit Lakes for several years. When we heard that Holland Hospitality was in the last stages of renovations at the Superior Inn Grand Marais we had to return, we were not disappointed. We could go on about the knowledgeable staff, amazing view from our balcony, the peacefulness of Lake Superior or the comfortable layout of our room. Let’s start with the basics, the hotel is easily accessed off hwy 61. From the moment you walk into the property you are greeted with a large sitting area with ample couches, chairs and a large fireplace. The lobby is well laid out with an inviting lounge area should you desire a glass of wine or beer. The grounds facing the lake are in the process of being touched up and should be a feature point for the hotel in the coming weeks. The breakfast area is well stocked and replenished with the same type of cuisine Lodge on the Lake provides their guests. The hotel is impeccably clean. If you are a “first timer”to Holland Hospitality properties you will find it second to none. If you are used to their Detroit Lakes properties and have not experienced Grand Marais, you should consider this hotel only if you want a relaxing stay with the same quality they are known for. In closing I’m going to have to express some guilt with having to split time during the year with Detroit Lakes and Grand Marais, Detroit Lakes has always been our “go to”..... keep up the great work HH! The Best Western Hotel, Superior Inn, in Grand Marais, MN is an exceptional accommodation on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Quality of the room, service, amenities and breakfast were apparent.
My hotel room had a patio window and outdoor seating facing a few feet from Lake Superior. An absolutely relaxing experience hearing the rolling surf and seeing the morning sunrise. Bravo. Frank, M., TripAdvisor
We had a great stay at this hotel. Our room was comfortable & clean. Listening to the waves of Lake Superior was amazing! Great breakfast, easy walk to restaurants & brewery. Thanks Shawn & the rest of staff for making this a great stay. We were happy to have a place for our snowmobile trailer, & easy access to the trails. Brenda B.
Every once in a while you run onto a hotel that is so inviting and comfortable that you just want to stay longer. This hotel is one of those. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled into this place. Thank you Best Western Plus Superior Inn. Paul S.
The accommodations were wonderful, the staff was friendly, and the hot breakfast was most welcomed. We stayed here with our Corgi and the provisions to make the grounds dog friendly were first rate. Other people staying with their dogs were also very friendly. An all around very pleasant experience. Annette S.
